Polar M600 Compatibility Information - July 2019

A Look at Polar M600’s Compatibility and Features - July 2019

The Polar M600 smart watch and fitness tracker is the latest device made by the well-known heart rate monitoring company, and it is a big upgrade over the Polar M400 in a lot of ways. It is one of the most practical and interesting Android Wear devices, and it lets you keep track of your fitness and your lifestyle wherever you are.

It features Polar heart rate monitoring using wrist-based measuring technology (but you can use a chest-strap heart rate monitor as well if you wish), and it has a built-in GPS for tracking your speed and distance traveled so that you can get an accurate idea of your average calorie burn.

The M600 has a decent battery life – if you connect it to your phone, it should last for two days. If you just use it as a step tracker and heart rate monitor, it will last for much longer, though.

The Polar M600 is compatible with most Android phones. It uses Bluetooth to sync, or you can use a cable if you prefer.

What makes the Polar M600 such a popular device is the Polar Flow service, which records information about your training sessions so that you can easily track your progress and set future goals. There’s a Smart Coaching feature, which offers detailed information about your current fitness level, and makes recommendations to help you improve in each area. This is something that is particularly special – many apps for other fitness trackers offer advice, but the goals aren’t usually as “smart” or targeted.

The Polar M600 is compatible with the Polar H7 chest strap based heart rate sensor, which means that you can track your heart rate in even more detail than with what the M600 offers. Wrist based sensors are good for general monitoring, but even if you tighten the strap you might find that they come loose a bit too often.

The Polar Flow app is available for both Android and iOS, and you can use your desktop to view information from the website as well, so if you don’t have a phone that is compatible with the Polar Flow you won’t have lost out on too much except a little convenience – you can still get all the information you need, and you can still join in with the community, track your achievements, and get a good overview of your long term progress.

Since this is build on the Android Wear platform, it is compatible with most modern Android phones. You can use it with iOS devices, but you might find that the battery life and stability isn’t quite as good. Windows phone users, at the moment, are out of luck – but that could change in the future.

If you’re in the market for a smart watch and fitness tracker, this is a good choice. Polar are accomplished heartrate monitor makers, so you can be confident you’re getting something robust and effective with accurate sensors.
