Fitbit Charge 2 Review - September 2019

Fitbit Charge 2 Review

The Fitbit Charge 2 is a well-rounded fitness tracker that has some great features to help you improve both mental and physical health. Appearance-wise, it’s pretty sleek looking, although it could never pass as formal wrist wear — but that’s not its purpose anyways. Let’s get into the review.

Features:

  • Sleep tracking
  • PurePulse heart-rate monitor
  • Guided breathing sessions
  • Multi-sport monitor
  • Ability to connect to GPS
  • Call alerts, text messages, and calendar
  • SmartTrack automatic exercise recognition

The list above highlights some of the Fitbit Charge 2’s most important features. We especially like the addition of sleep tracking and guided breathing sessions — both these tools can be very beneficial. The sleep tracker monitors the duration and quality of your sleep in order to improve your routine. Getting better sleep can have a tremendous impact on both physical and mental health.

Furthermore, guided breathing is a form of meditation with numerous health benefits. The Fitbit Charge 2 uses your heart-rate in order to guide you to an optimal breathing pattern. This routine brings you to a point of deep relaxation, which can help improve depression, anxiety, and alleviate stress.

Another feature that we particularly like is the SmartTrack automatic exercise recognition. This feature allows the device to recognize and track your exercises even if you forget to register them. This way, the Fitbit Charge 2 won’t miss any of your activities, and therefore will have a more accurate read on your level of health.

Appearance:

  • Interchangeable elastomer bands of varying color
  • Large OLED touch screen
  • Clearly a fitness tracker or sports watch
  • Customizable clock formats

The Fitbit Charge 2 is not a bad looking fitness tracker, but it’s probably not going to look so great at the office. What’s more important is that it’s comfortable to wear and functions well. We also like the large OLED screen, a huge improvement from some of Fitbit’s earlier models. The bands are very easy to change, should you ever want to mix it up.

Other considerations:

One of the more impressive aspects of the Fitbit Charge 2 is its battery life — a whopping 5 days. This means less time charging and more time wearing. The Fitbit Charge 2 is water-resistant, but this is not to get confused with waterproof. In other words, it can withstand perspiration and some rain, but it is not recommended to shower or swim with. All in all, if improving your health is your main priority, the Fitbit Charge 2 is a great choice.
